The artwork celebrated the abolition of the slave trade whilst acknowledging modern day slavery and was produced during Black History Month, 2007.
Every child in the school made a 'step' All of these steps when viewed together represented the enormous amount of writing, discussion and petitioning that was the driving force behind the abolition.
During one afternoon, every child from Tidemill Primary School walked to the Laban centre and laid their step on the studio theatre floor, together the steps became a stairway to change.
