An art lesson.

format and resources you'll need to use this lesson.

this art lesson is free.

It was originally conceived to help introduce new ways of thinking about how art may be taught in primary and secondary schools. it is therefore for teachers not pupils!

It is designed to  change the way staff  perceive, value and therefore us  art.

the lesson is for each person to work on individually, and if possible in a quiet relaxing environment

you will need:

one large envelope ( approx 38 by 26cm )

three small envelopes ( approx 25 by 18cm, for A4 paper )

two sheets of white A4 paper.

one sheets of tracing paper.

a large selection of colouring pencils, rubbers and pencil sharpeners. you need enough colours for all participants to be able to choose five of their favourite colours.

what you need to prepare before the lesson starts.

print the instructions for the largest envelope first ( see red icon at bottom of page).

If you are good with a photocopier it looks best if you print the instructions directly onto the envelope, if not attach the intructions with tape ( take care at all times to make the whole thing look and feel precious, think about presentation and the materials you use )

Now number the smaller envelopes 1, 2 and 3.
Again its best if you can print the numbers directly onto the envelopes ( see red icon below for size and font )

Click on the red icons below to print out the three sections of the art lesson and the instructions for the front on the largest envelope.

print the first two sections of the lesson onto white A4 paper.

print the third section of the lesson on to tracing paper.

fold the sections of the lesson in half so they fit into their numbered envelopes. then place the three smaller numbered envelopes into the large envelope.

you should now have a large envelope with instructions for the lesson printed/attached onto it.

and inside the large envelope: three smaller numbered envelopes containing the sections of the lesson.

start the lesson by reading the instructions on the front of the large envelope to the group.

then ask each member of the group to take an envelope and find somewhere quiet to sit.
