Progress in work 2. Utrophia, Deptford, London.

Hi

I'm in a show in Deptford at Utrophia Gallery.

see flyer for details.

I'm making to new works for the show; a den/room/place to talk and make stuff and a large collage.

this is the description of the collage work

Collage machine. All the faces found in all the national newspapers printed in one particular day. Cut out each face and stick to large sheet of paper or directly onto the wall.

Biggest face in the middle, getting smaller as they go out.

I will be working with invited friends and artists and passers by to make this work - and you if you can make it, there will be tea and biscuits, live music and beers on Saturday 12 till 10pm

there will will also be live print making!

let me know if you are planning to come.

the gallery was left in the woods for a day.

I am working with James from Fernymwoods Contemporary, to re-propose the piece/installation as a permanent structure and invite artists to make work for the space.

'all the holes in a particular space' at collision. AREA10, Pechkam, London.

All the holes in a particular space.

Jack Brown has drawn an arrow to every hole found in area 10.

As Brown worked around the space he made apparatus to help him, worked out rules and accepted limitations.

The paraphernalia of his activities will be displayed within a specially adapted room adjoining the main performance space of area 10.

“Holes document the decline of a building; they are disrepair, the result or beginning of slow deconstruction. Through my intimacy with the space, I hope the audience will become acutely aware of the detail of the space and my movement within it”.

What games did you play? What were school dinners like? Who was your best friend?  These are some of the questions children at Tidemill Primary School have been asking older volunteers in a project set up to record memories of school and school life years ago.

“OH MY DAYS”  was often uttered by interviewers as they discovered something new or unexpected about their school, or how schools used to be.

The Victorian buildings which house Tidemill Primary School are due to close in a couple of years. As Tidemill looks to the future and a new school on a new site, this project has been worked with the local community to collect the memories of 18 pupils, past and present. The resulting audio-visual archive will be exhibited through a collection of installations and sculptures at the APT Gallery.

The exhibition will include large interactive installations, interviews collected by 8 pupils and sculptures made by Year 5+6 pupils. the large interactive installations have been made by artist Jack Brown.
